According to leaks from industry insiders such as The Galox and TechDroider, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to feature a substantial 5,700 mAh silicon-carbon battery. This technology, which has already been utilized by Chinese manufacturers and recently debuted in Samsung's own Galaxy Z Fold 8 series, allows for higher energy density within a smaller footprint. For users, this means significantly longer runtimes without requiring a bulkier chassis.

Breaking the Seven-Year Plateau

The move to silicon-carbon is particularly noteworthy because Samsung has essentially maintained the same battery capacity for its Ultra models since the Galaxy S20 Ultra. By shifting away from traditional lithium-ion chemistry, Samsung is playing catch-up to the aggressive power innovations seen in the Asian market. This transition suggests that Samsung is moving past its conservative testing phase and is ready to implement higher-capacity power cells in its primary S-series line.

The Camera Controversy: Innovation or Downgrade?

While the battery news is overwhelmingly positive, the rumors regarding the S27 Ultra's imaging system are more divisive. Reports indicate that Samsung may be rethinking its quad-camera array to achieve a more streamlined aesthetic.

Despite the hardware iterations, the most certain 'downgrade' for consumers will be the price tag. While Samsung managed to hold the S26 Ultra at $1,299, the S27 Ultra is almost certainly headed for a price hike.

The catalyst for this increase comes from Qualcomm. CEO Cristiano Amon recently confirmed to CNBC that the cost of Snapdragon silicon is rising due to supply constraints and a global RAM crisis driven by the AI boom. Because these high-end chips are the heart of the Galaxy S series, those increased costs will inevitably be passed down to the end user.
