Pokémon Pokopia Guide: How to Unlock the Diving Ability in the New Free Update
Learn how to unlock the new Diving ability in Pokémon Pokopia with our step-by-step guide to the free 2.0 update and the quest for Manaphy.
The world of Pokémon Pokopia has just expanded with a significant free update, version 2.0, allowing players to explore the depths like never before. While the 'Fonds-Bulleux' DLC launched on August 5, 2026, the highly anticipated Diving ability is completely free for all players. Here is your comprehensive guide to unlocking the secrets beneath the waves.
Prerequisites for Unlocking Dive
Before you can dive, you must ensure you have progressed sufficiently in the game. First, update your game to version 2.0 via the Nintendo Switch 2 menu by selecting the game, pressing the '+' button, and checking for updates. Once updated, ensure you have completed the 'A More Pleasant Environment' quest in the Grisemer zone and reached level 5. You must also have previously acquired the 'Jump' ability from Magikarp and the 'Surf' ability from Lapras.
How to Get the Diving Ability
Once you have met the prerequisites, follow these steps to obtain the Dive ability from the mythical Pokémon Manaphy:
- Speak to Professor Bouldeneu in Grisemer to initiate the sequence.
- Use your Surf ability to travel to a newly appeared island where you will hear cries of hunger.
- Locate Manaphy and provide it with 5 pieces of seaweed. If you do not have any, you can gather them within the island's cavern.
- In gratitude for feeding it, Manaphy will teach you the Dive ability.
Preparing Your Habitats
If you are still missing the prerequisite abilities, remember that you need to house specific Pokémon to gain their skills:
- Magikarp (Jump): Create a Marine Fishing Corner with a fishing rod and any seat.
- Lapras (Surf): Create a Tropical Coastline habitat using one large palm tree and two large bushes near two sea water blocks.
This new mechanic opens up vast underwater areas to explore, adding even more depth to the cozy gameplay experience of Pokémon Pokopia.
