Just one week after its highly anticipated debut, the revitalized experience of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is receiving its first major overhaul. Following a staggering launch where the title sold over two million copies, Ubisoft is doubling down on its commitment to player experience by deploying the comprehensive 1.0.4 update. This patch, set to roll out globally, targets a wide array of technical and gameplay-related issues identified by the community during the first few days of exploration.

Key Technical Improvements

Ubisoft has prioritized stability and performance in this update. Players on PC, specifically those encountering issues with framerate caps, will find that the 30 FPS bug in cinematics when using custom settings has been resolved. Furthermore, the development team has addressed multiple save and load game malfunctions, along with a significant fix for interior lighting and cave rendering errors that previously impacted visual fidelity.

Refining the Caribbean Adventure

Gameplay mechanics have seen extensive tuning. Key fixes include:

  • Combat & Stealth: Corrected an issue where combat allies would cease movement mid-assassination and resolved a bug involving the dague à corde and smoke bombs failing to reset target reticles.
  • Naval Warfare: Addressed clipping issues within the Jackdaw's hull and fixed a critical bug where upgrading the ship at a dock could cause the vessel to vanish entirely.
  • Harpooning: Players will no longer be trapped in a harpooning loop after boarding, and the game now correctly allows for dodging the whale's fatal tail-swipe.

World & Interface Enhancements

Exploration is now more consistent, with 'floating bushes' anchored correctly and a rebalanced weather system that offers more frequent sunny skies. The UI has also been polished to prevent players from getting stuck in a feedback loop at the desynchronization screen. In terms of mission progression, specific quest-breaking bugs—including the 'Rebel Desires' zipline issue and the El Tiburón boss encounter—have been rectified with new visual indicators added to guide players through the fight.

How to Update

The update is available now across all platforms. On PlayStation 5, the download size is 2.44 GB, while Xbox Series users will see a 15.35 GB update. PC players should expect a download size of 3.71 GB, or 2.7 GB for the Steam version. Ensure your system auto-update settings are enabled or check the game's menu tile to trigger the download manually.
