SEGA Announces Exclusive Closed Network Test for Highly Anticipated Crazy Taxi: World Tour
SEGA has announced a closed network test for the upcoming Crazy Taxi: World Tour. Discover how to register for this exclusive 2026 preview before the 2027 launch.

After a decade-long hiatus, the legendary arcade racing franchise, Crazy Taxi, is officially roaring back to life. SEGA has confirmed that the upcoming installment, titled Crazy Taxi: World Tour, is slated for a full release in 2027. Following its reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, anticipation for the title has surged, and the publisher is now offering select fans an exclusive opportunity to experience the game ahead of schedule through a closed network test.
A Global Multiplayer Experience
Unlike the original titles, which focused heavily on arcade-style single-player chaos, World Tour aims to modernize the experience with robust online multiplayer features. The upcoming network test is designed specifically to stress-test these new systems and ensure server stability. Participants will be able to dive into two primary multiplayer modes:
- Race Mode: A fast-paced competition where up to six players scramble to transport as many passengers as possible within a strict time limit to maximize their earnings.
- Police vs. Taxi: A team-based tactical mode pitting two teams of three against one another in high-stakes chases.
While the full game will eventually feature a comprehensive story mode and single-player campaigns, these features will remain locked during this technical trial. However, the test will include ranked matches and custom lobby support, providing a solid look at the game's competitive infrastructure.
What to Expect in the Network Test
SEGA has revealed that the trial will provide a controlled environment featuring two unique maps, six distinct vehicles, four playable characters, and various vehicle customization options. Although the test is limited in scope, it represents a crucial milestone for the development team to refine the driving physics and network responsiveness.
How to Participate
Players eager to test their taxi-driving skills in advance can register via the official SEGA website. Applications must be submitted by September 1st, 2026, at 8:59 AM (CET).
Successful applicants will be granted access to the closed network test, which runs from September 12 to September 14, 2026. The test will be available on all launch platforms, though it will currently only support English and Japanese languages. While the test is limited to specific regions—including France—fans in excluded territories will have to wait for the full global launch in 2027 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series consoles.
