Hades 2 Surprise Update: Supergiant Games Releases Hotfix 5 for Patch 2
Supergiant Games releases Hotfix 5 for Hades 2 Patch 2, fixing combat bugs, boon interactions, and narrative triggers. Find out what's new for PC and consoles.

Supergiant Games Continues Polishing the Underworld
The journey through the depths of the underworld continues to get smoother. Supergiant Games has surprise-dropped Hotfix 5 for Patch 2 in Hades 2, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to refining the player experience. Even as the game approaches its first anniversary since the 1.0 launch on September 25, 2025, the developers are not resting on their laurels. This latest update follows a series of rapid-fire improvements, including Hotfix 4, aimed at eliminating bugs and balancing complex gameplay interactions.
Detailed Breakdown of Hotfix 5 Improvements
The primary focus of this update is stability and the correction of specific combat and narrative triggers. While many of the changes are technical, they significantly impact the fluid feel of the roguelike action. The patch targets everything from divine interactions to specific boss fight anomalies.
Combat and Boon Adjustments
Several critical interactions between Olympian gods and allies have been addressed to ensure builds function as intended:
- Synergy Fixes: Corrections were made to the interactions between Demeter's 'Weedwhacker' and Daedalus' 'Split Blaze', as well as the complex interplay between Apollo's 'Solar Eruption', Selene's 'Phase Shift', and Purification.
- Duo Boon Stability: The update fixes instances where the 'King's Ransom' (Zeus x Hera) and 'Queen's Ransom' (Hera x Zeus) boons failed to properly remove their respective Duo Favors.
- Boss Fight Polishing: A frustrating bug where Hades' 'Screaming Soul' projectile would explode unexpectedly during the fight against the Peerless Typhon has been resolved.
- Ability Reliability: Selene's 'Moon Beam', which occasionally failed to generate a Star Path in Tartarus or at the Summit, is now functioning reliably.
Gameplay and World Logic
Beyond combat, the update addresses quality-of-life issues and world consistency:
- Dream Dives: A bug preventing Charon's Wells from appearing after visiting Ephyre has been squashed.
- Enemy AI: Medea's 'Suffer in Sight' no longer causes enemies to attack prematurely upon entering Thessalian locations.
- Narrative & Audio: Multiple minor text errors and voice-over triggers that failed to fire during narrative events have been corrected.
- Technical Fixes: Chronos will no longer become non-interactive in Erebus when changing Memories, and the UI now correctly indicates when 'Glorious Disaster' (Zeus x Apollo) cannot be used due to insufficient Magic.
Platform Availability and Console Roadmap
Currently, Hotfix 5 has been deployed exclusively for the PC version of Hades 2 on Steam. However, console players will not have to wait long for these improvements. Supergiant Games has officially confirmed via X (formerly Twitter) that the team is actively working on bringing these fixes to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch (including the upcoming Switch 2).
The studio thanked console players for their patience, assuring them that the parity update is imminent. As the game evolves, these frequent, targeted hotfixes ensure that the complex systems of Hades 2 remain fair, challenging, and polished for all players regardless of their platform.
